Go and try on some wigs before you lose your hair because you'll be surprised how realistic they are and plus, you don't need to be embarrassed by having to reveal your bald head in the shop. I have 8 wigs by Hothair and they are fab! Now I am used to wearing them, I am so much more confident and people are always asking me where I get my hair done! I love letting my mates try them on and they're all very jealous of my fab styles and being able to change them when I want!

Wigs

I was having lectures when I was having chemo so I was in contact with students who weren't aware of my treatment. I found the idea of wigs uncomfortable as I didn't want people I didn't really know being able to tell that I was wearing a wig. The wig I settled on was almost exactly the same colour, style and length as my hair (which I had cut short before it started to fall out) which made me feel confident that people wouldn't be able to tell anything was different, especially as no one really expects a 19 year old girl to be wearing a wig so they don't actively look for joins in the hairline etc.

The only problem with wearing a wig everyday as I did (a synthetic one) is that its gets tatty VERY QUICKLY, so after a few months I got the same wig again in the same style and colour so that I could alternate between them to try and retain some sort of condition to them. I did also plait one so that it looked more natural and not so "fixed" all the time.

Wigg'in it up with Trevor!

Blimey, so many wigs so little time! That was my initial thought when they told me in the chemo suite that i would loose my hair after the first cycle. I had really long brown wavey hair, you know, like the girl of the Patene advert. I was a 'because im worth it' kind of gal.  Now ive pretty much lost all my hair apart from a few sprigs. I didnt go mad and shave it all off.

Carrying on with uni i managed to cover up the thinning with hats and having my hair cut to my shoulder until it got to the point where i thought it was time to wig it then i had my hair cut really short. My parents bought me a wig from Trendco and they were brilliant at matching my hair colour. I went for a real hair one because i wanted something i could curl for uni ball's. Then i was recommended to see Trevor Sorbie! What a legend, although the waiting list was long Trevor, a celebrity stylist, cuts wigs for free.

If your gonna wig it do with style
