It can be hard to know what to do or what to say to your friend. Sometimes it’s hard to put your feelings into words. One of the most important things you can do is just be yourself. There’s no need to behave in a different way or treat your friend any differently. Often, they just want to be treated as an ordinary teenager again (and not a teenager with cancer).
Sometimes your friend will want to talk about their cancer or treatment. This can help you understand some of what they’re going through. Even if you don’t know what to say, just listen. They won’t expect you to have any answers. They’ll be getting lots of information and advice from their doctors and maybe their parents too.
