In some situations, you may be advised not to fly because oxygen levels and air pressures change at certain altitudes. For example, if:
- you’re breathless
- you're anaemic
- you’ve had any kind of surgery within the last 10 days
- you’ve recently had chest surgery (you should wait for 4 weeks after surgery)
- you’ve recently had brain surgery
- you have a brain tumour and there is a risk of swelling in the brain.
blood clots
Some people with cancer have a higher risk of developing blood clots (thromboses). Your specialist can advise whether you need to have any treatment to prevent blood clots.
