Perhaps one of the most crucial things is to find someone to talk to that you feel comfortable with – a family member, a friend, your partner, or a professional.
If you know someone already you could:
- ask them directly
- write them a letter or a note
- email them
- phone them
If you talk to a family member, friend or your partner, remember that when people get embarrassed or uncomfortable they can sometimes be insensitive. It can be helpful to give them some warning that you’d like to talk to them about something private that is important to you.
