Here are some of the things that might be affected and that may impact on your fertility:

  • production of sperm (if you are male) or eggs (if you are female)
  • ability to carry a baby successfully from conception to birth
  • being able to have sexual intercourse
  • your feelings about yourself
  • any relationships that you have now or might have in the future, and what you see yourself doing in the future.

If your fertility is affected, this is likely to be due to a combination of:

  • where in the body your cancer was
  • the type of treatment you had
  • whether you’re male or female
  • your age at the time of treatment.

In general, the younger people are when they are treated for cancer, the less their fertility is likely to be affected.
