Radiotherapy to the spine can sometimes make the spine shorter – which could make you shorter. If you have had radiotherapy to the bones in your leg, then that leg could end up slightly shorter than the other. The bones in that leg may also be weaker and more likely to fracture.

Orthopaedic (bone) doctors will be involved in your follow-up care to keep an eye out for possible problems.

Radiotherapy to the brain can also mean that you might not grow normally. Growth hormones are produced by the brain, and radiotherapy to this area can affect this. If this does happen then you will be treated with a man-made growth hormone.
