Some people can get germ cell tumours in the brain, chest or other areas of the abdomen. Germ cell tumours of the ovary are a rare type of ovarian cancer. They start in the cells of the ovary that make the eggs. They’re different from the more common type of ovarian cancer (which tends to affect older women) and the treatment is also different.
Germ cell tumours usually affect only one ovary, and most are curable even if they have spread to other places in the body. Men and boys can also get germ cell tumours in their testicles.
