Hickman lines/Portacaths

Hi guys,
I just got rid of my hickman line which i had for a year. I hated it and struggled all the way through.

I was just wondering what sort of experience others had with theirs.

Hi Sian
I was just reading a comment you left saying you had treatment at royal marsden sutton.so did i !the nurses, doctors and play specialist are really nice !I am having my triple hickman line out in four weeks!i have had it in for a year and three months =]it split when i was having my transplant and they didn't have any repair kits in the hospital so they had to get one flown form germany =]i can't wait to go swimming =]is it sore when it comes out?

Hickman line

i ve had my line in for more than a year now and its still going strong. Ive had a few line infections which were cleared up with antibiotics. My lines just like part of my body , i dont even notice its there half the time. It is annoying when you want to take a bath though and at night when i roll onto my side! where was your line inserted? mines is under my arm which is a really awkward place!

Hickman lines vs Groshong lines

hi
i had good and bad experience with hickman line they are more reliable than groshong lines which are prone to cracking and come out easy, but it all good fun some of the nurses struggle with them. hee hee

Hickman V Ports

I had mainly hickman lines compared to ports but ive hated ports ever since a doctor bent the needle putting it in. For me i prefer hickman lines.
