This Way Up!

Hey everyone! I really, really want to make some friends who will understand how it feels to live with cancer, and I know that in turn I will be able to understand what it is like. I live in NZ. I love animals, horse riding, books - the Harry Potter books are the best!!!

Cry I don't talk about when I was ill, even now. I have recently found out that I have N-MYB gene amplified, but that I don't have another gene that places you at high risk. So I don't know if I had high-risk NB or not.

Sometimes I really want to talk about it Yell, though, so TIC will be a good place for me to speak sometimes. I'm now a PG teen doing some tertiary courses in my spare time - I am interested in science but I also love art!

I don't mind answering any questions or talking to people, so feel free to leave any notes!

ahah, my title's can be majorly lame, as you'll come to find out ;)

ahh that's fine! glad to be of help (: haha i know what you mean, sometimes i'm on here everyday for a week, and the next i won't have logged on at all.. but i'll always make an effort to reply to any messages :] lmao @ the awkward moments thing! hopefully, my awkward jokes will be limited as we cyber-talk (cyber-talk??), but you don't know me until you've experienced one of my awkward jokes, so bring on the awkward moments! oh boy, that was a LOT of waffling :L

wow, bizarre about your friend's hair! but how cool? lol. ahah i'm sure she loves it! sounds awesome! i ended up trying some really weird hairstyles when my hair was at that werid stage - where it's too short to do anything with, but too long to go under a bandanna.. but now i'm kinda glad that i got to experiment, becuase i'm told that short hair suites me :)

oh man, i think about the people i met in hospital a lottt! sometimes it really gets me down as well, because i don't know whether they've been given the all clear or not, or if they got that blood transplant they needed or whatever... i always wish that i'd got their myspaces/bebos/facebooks or even emails :( i really hope that they're all ok. i am still in touch with one guy on my old ward, but i didn't really know him then - he had it really bad and didn't really come out of his room much when i was there, but its cool to talk to him now :) i did see one of my friends at my check up appt once, it was kinda like 'OMG! WOW IT'S YOU!' 'OMG IT'S YOU!' 'WOW YOUR HAIR!' 'OMG YOURRR HAIR!' and then we stopped screaming and kinda said bye and walked away :( (i was coming out of my appt and she was going in). i know what you mean! everybody on my ward was so nice as well, and it's great that you can relate to a lot of people. how about you? did you stay in touch with people you met?

lmfao!! i know, that weird smell in the hospital - you get so used to it! when i got home it was like, 'crap! is that how my house smells??' haha (not in a bad way :P)

so do you guys have like a teenage cancer trust in NZ?

sorry, i've only just realised how long this is! what is it with me and long messages?

anyway, take care, and enjoy your christmas! damn you guys, you get a hot christmas, and we get a wet one! :L

xx

hey :)

aahh thanks for saying that! of course it's ok to add me :)

i read that you live in New Zealand, and i seriously LOVE the accents there!

your hair sounds uber cool - both before and after treatment! yep, my hair used to be thick, dark and wavy/curly, but now it's still dark, but thinner and veryvery curly. i've heard that most people's hair comes back curly after treatment, but im not sure whether that's a myth or something lol :)

i also read that sometimes you want to talk about your cancer, but you don't really talk about it, right? well i was the same, so feel absolutely free to pour anything out on me, i can be a good listener. (and say really bad jokes at awkward moments, but thats got nothing to do with this...) obviously, you dont have to tell me anything, no pressure :]

take care! ummm, g'day? how lame am i.. xD
