The specialist nurses at Cancerbackup are all very experienced cancer nurses. They have all worked in different cancer specialities before coming to work here. This means that some will be expert in blood cancers and others in bone cancers, and so on.
They spend about half of their working day answering calls to the helpline. The other half is spent answering email enquiries, writing information such as new factsheets, and updating information for the web or the booklets. They also take time to keep up to date with new developments in cancer.
There are over 30 nurses working for Cancerbackup, both on the helpline and in local centres.
