planning information
Ideas for the information included on TIC come from users of the site, the cancer support specialists at Macmillan Cancer Support and the steering group. At the beginning of the project, we used an online survey to get an overview of what content teenagers with cancer really wanted.

writing information
The information is written either by one of the cancer information nurse specialists at Macmillan Cancer Support or a specialist in that area. Macmillan Cancer Support’s policy is to provide up-to-date and accurate information on cancer and its treatments. Where there are guidelines, the information is based on these. If there aren’t any, then it is based on the consensus view of how these cancers are treated in the UK. See the bibliography for details of the resources used to produce this information.

approving information
This information is reviewed by other specialists and a member of the steering group, then it is approved by the site’s medical editor, Dr Jeremy Whelan, before going online.

keeping information up-to-date
All the information is reviewed every 12-18 months. This means that at least two relevant specialists will look at it, some teenagers, a member of the steering group and the medical editor.
