TIC is for young people aged 12- 24, not for younger children. If you’re under 16, please get your parent’s permission before adding anything to the site.

All of the content that you add to the website will be moderated before it can be seen online.

There are two reasons why we do this:

  1. Most importantly, we want to make sure that all of the people who use TIC are safe and feel comfortable.
  2. We are ultimately responsible for all of the content that appears on TIC, and if there is anything offensive or libellous, then it could cause us lots of problems.

Please don’t include:

  • Any personal contact information, including email addresses – it can be dangerous to contact people that you have met online, so try not to include any information that could identify you, like the name of your school.
  • Addresses of other websites - if you want to recommend something, email it to us, and we will assess it.
  • Anything that is slanderous - like naming and shaming any hospitals, doctors or similar - don't be put off sharing your experiences, but we can't publish anything about specific people or places.
  • Anything that is offensive, or could be offensive to other users - so no swearing please.
  • Any advice or information that could be misleading to other teenagers with cancer.

When you submit anything to the site, a nurse will scan it before it goes online. If there are any problems, then no worries, we'll just email you and let you know why, and you can fix it and send it back to us. We'll do this as quickly as we can, but it could take up to 5 working days for your content to appear.

If you do see anything on the site that you find worrying or upsetting, then please let us know.

How contributions could be used

If you have submitted stories or tips, they cannot then be edited. However, if you want your page or stories to be removed from the site, then please contact TMuirhead@macmillan.org.uk and we will take them down.

If you agree to your stories being shared, they will also be used in other sections of the website and possibly in related publicity and other material.
