- Nasogastric tube (NG)
A thin flexible tube which is inserted into your nose and goes down the back of your throat and into your stomach. You can have medicines and food through this.
- Neurons
Cells that conduct nerve impulses in the brain.
- Neutropenia
This is when the number of neutrophils have dropped meaning that you are at risk of infection. This usually happens a week to ten days after chemotherapy. Over the following few days or weeks the number of neutrophils gradually increases again.
- Neutrophils
Type of white blood cell which are important in fighting infections. Some cancer treatments, especially chemotherapy, reduce the number of neutrophils in the blood making you more at risk of infections. When you are having chemotherapy your blood will be checked regularly to measure the neutrophil count.
