Some wards have visiting hours where people can only come at set times. Others have open visiting hours so people can come to see you at pretty much any time of the day but they have to leave at night so you can get some rest. Check with your nurse what they do on your ward.
It's best if people don't visit you when they're not feeling well. This is because something as small as a cold or tummy bug could be passed on to you or one of the other patients. This would make someone very unwell if they were neutropenic. If there's any doubt at all, they must phone the ward first and check with one of the nurses.
It’s good for your friends and family to visit because it's good for you to see each other. But it’s important to remember that you're in hospital and visitors shouldn't make too much noise or disturb the other patients. You’ll probably have to rest quite a bit as you’ll feel quite tired, so it’s a good idea to make sure your visitors co-ordinate so that everyone doesn’t come to see you at once.
