Good question…
If you’re an older teenager you might have your treatment on an adult ward. This might be a surgical ward or a cancer (oncology or haematology) ward depending on what treatment you’re having. If you’re a bit younger then it may be a children’s ward.
Some hospitals now have Teenage Cancer Trust Units which are specially designed just for teenagers. They feel more modern with things like play stations, computers and music to help you feel more at home. There are a number of teenage units in the UK. They are in:
- Birmingham
- Leeds
- Liverpool
- London
- Manchester
- Newcastle
- Sheffield
- Edinburgh
- Glasgow
- Cardiff
- Southampton
There are ongoing fundraising events all the time to raise money to build and open up more teenage cancer units.
