Research studies are carefully designed to reduce the risks and increase the benefits to everyone who takes part, regardless of what treatment they get.
When you take part in a trial you’ll be monitored carefully during the study. You’ll have regular tests and you may be asked some extra questions about how you are feeling. Sometimes this means going to your hospital or GP more often than you normally would so you might want to check this out before you agree to take part in the trial.
The benefit to you is that you are likely to receive extra attention if you are in a study. This means that any changes in your health – whether or not they are related to the treatment you are having- are frequently picked up and acted upon earlier than if you were not in a study.
