There are 3 main types of ovarian cancer:
  • epithelial tumours
  • germ cell tumours
  • stromal cell tumours

Teenagers are mostly affected by the germ cell tumour type. You may hear your type of germ cell tumour being called:
  • dysgerminoma
  • teratoma
  • yolk sac tumour

The information here covers germ cell tumours, but if you have a different type and want to know more, please contact us. It's important to remember that all types of ovarian cancer in young people can be successfully treated - and most young women are completley cured.
