There are a few different types of testicular cancer. The most common types are teratomas and seminomas.

The type that tends to affect teenagers is a testicular cancer called teratomas. They can start from the age of 15 upwards. A teratoma grows from a type of cell called a germ cell. These cells are part of the reproductive system, forming in the testicles. Although girls/women can also develop teratomas of the female germ cell, an ova, these develop in the ovaries.

Seminomas tend to affect older men.

The information in this section covers teratomas, but if you have a different type and want to know more, please contact us. An important thing to remember is that the outcome for all types of testicular cancer is really successful - and most blokes are completely cured.
